Earlier this week, Elon Musk opened up about his decision to fire thousands of Twitter’s employees just days after he purchased the company from PayPal.

Announcing this decision on Saturday, November 5th, 2022, Musk wrote that he had ‘no choice’ as the company faced substantial financial losses.

In regards to Twitter’s reduction in force, he wrote, “Unfortunately, there are no other options when the company is losing 4 million dollars per day.” The company offered everyone who left three months of severance, which was 50% more than required by law.

A source close to the situation revealed that he planned to fire around half of Twitter’s 7,500 employees, according to sources close to the situation. In light of the news, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to the newly gained social media platform to explain his stance in light of the incident.

Among the employees who report  told to remain at home and await an email from the company about their future, it has report that they  instruct to do so.

Elon Musk tweeted

Despite a lack of changes to content moderation and doing everything to appease the activists, Twitter has suffered a massive drop in revenues due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, Musk tweeted on Friday, November 4th, 2022. It’s mess up to the core! The government of the United States is trying to destroy the right of free speech in America.”

It has reported that multiple employees have filed a class action suit in federal court in San Francisco on behalf of Twitter employees in response to this action, as reported by NPR.

Twitter is accused of dismissing employees without providing them with adequate notice, in contravention of state and federal employment laws, according to the lawsuit filed by the union. In accordance with the Employee Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, a company is require to give its workers at least 60 days’ notice before making mass layoffs,” said the outlet.

Nevertheless, after Liss-Riordan shared the details of his severance package with employees, Musk later confirmed in a tweet that three months’ severance package will be offer.
