In Netflix’s latest season of the hit royal drama The Crown, Elizabeth Debicki is making headlines for a very different reason from just portraying Princess Diana as she does in the show; her dress at the show’s premiere is being compare to the late Diana’s infamous revenge dress.
Elizabeth Debicki arrived at London’s red carpet
In a black shoulder-baring dress, the 32-year-old Australian actress arrived at London’s red carpet for The Crown on November 8, 2022, wearing a suit that exposed his shoulder blades.
There was much talk about Diana’s iconic black dress that she wore in 1994, when she appeared at an event at Kensington Gardens in support of King Charles, one of the two royals who were having an extramarital affair with Camilla, the Queen’s Consort. Diana wore this outfit at an event that also commemorated Diana’s birthday in February.
There was something almost eerily similar about Elizabeth’s dress in the sense of it having a plunging neckline, one that reminded me of Princess Diana’s famous dress, even though Elizabeth’s dress was much longer.
The hit show will see Elizabeth portraying Princess Diana, alongside Dominic West portraying Charles, Imelda Staunton portraying Queen Elizabeth, and Jonathan Pryce portraying Prince Philip, with Dominic West playing Charles for the popular show.
