An Islamabad court discharged senior journalist Ayaz Amir from the murder case against his daughter-in-law Sara Inam on Tuesday.

During a dispute over a “family issue,” Shahnawaz, Ayaz Amir’s son, allegedly killed Sara at home. Initially detained by police for being a suspect in his wife’s murder, he confessed to killing her, saying he “thought” his spouse was having an affair. It was just a three-month marriage.

A trial court approved arrest warrants for Ayaz Amir and Sameena Shah on Saturday. Sara’s family nominated them as suspects. His former wife later obtained pre-arrest bail. Sara was murdered at the farmhouse where Sameena lived.

Ayaz Amir Physical remand in Sara Inam case

Ayaz Amir appeared in court after completing one day of physical remand earlier in the day. During the hearing, the police requested a five-day extension in the physical remand of Ayaz for further interrogation.

According to the police, Ayaz Amir contacted prime suspect Shahnawaz during the investigation. Sara’s parents have reached Pakistan, they said.

According to Ayaz Amir’s lawyer, his client has nothing to do with this case, so he should be dismissed. The police arrested the senior journalist after the court approved arrest warrants.

Are there any witnesses in the case who are travelling from abroad? Can anyone travel from abroad to testify? ” I am not able to get anyone from overseas to testify on my behalf as I am traveling overseas,” he explained.

Ayaz was in Chakwal at the time of the murder, according to the lawyer, and he informed the police as soon as he discovered the crime.
