On Monday, a pitch invader waving a rainbow flag interrupted the Portugal vs Uruguay World Cup match at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

While the FIFA global television feed avoided showing the pitch invader, a security official chased the individual after he fled the field with the flag.

As a result of two Bruno Fernandes goals in the second half, Portugal won the match 2-0, securing their place in the knockout round.

Earlier this month, Human Rights Watch published a report detailing cases in which Qatari security forces arbitrarily arrested LGBT people and treated them poorly.
