Islamabad: Pakistan on Friday urged India to investigate Altaf Ahmed Shah’s jail custody death and hold to account those responsible.
As the spokesperson for the foreign office said at the weekly press briefing in Islamabad: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Altaf Ahmed Shah’s death at the hands of the Tihar Jail.”
Shah’s death in custody
A letter was sent to the Indian Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad protesting India’s willful and deliberate negligence in causing Shah’s death in custody. Indian policies were systematic in suppressing and brutalizing Kashmiris and Hurriyat leaders, he added.
