  • Long march ends with Imran Khan's COAS appointment: Bilawal

According to Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Imran Khan is out to contest the constitutional appointment of the army chief. He called a player of the undemocratic game.

Announcing to journalists in Islamabad in a brief interview, Bilawal said: “Khan is trying to create controversy by bringing attention to this critical appointment and the execution of the constitution through his politics of protest.”

There is no democratic agenda behind Khan’s long march, and that’s what makes it so controversial.”

During a meeting with Bilawal, Imran Khan and other elements of the government  warned to refrain from playing games of this nature.

According to him, only the Prime Minister of Pakistan is authorize to appoint the head of the army, so we will support whoever our premier nominates as the new chief of the army staff as soon as the appointment is make.

Imran Khan advised by Bilawal

Imran Khan advised by Bilawal to wait until after the prime minister has made a decision on the appointment and then proceed to descend on the federal capital with his cohorts to hold a rally against the resignation.

In this regard, he should allow constitutional procedure to take its course. It will take a week after the appointment of the army chief for him to be able to march. However, he must allow the constitutional process to take its course.”

In response to a question that was asked, the foreign minister commented that he did not believe that the PTI’s long march protests were not associated with the postponement of the Saudi crown Mohammad bin Salman’s visit.

“It will play a minor role in the shelving of the Saudi head of state,” according to PPP’s Chairman, “but not a major one.”

According to Bilawal, he and his team successfully carried out a constitutional no-trust motion that  constitutionally proposed.

Bilawal told The Hindu that Khan offered General Bajwa a lifetime extension, but the army chief rejected such a proposal as a way to avoid losing a no-trust movement.

According to Bilawal, he further extended his attack against Khan by stating that the former prime minister plunged Pakistan into an economic crisis through his policies and that Khan was conspiring with the International Monetary Fund to make sure Pakistan’s loan agreement with the World Bank fails.

We [or our party] have from the very beginning been against sit-in protests and have always been against them. The PPP has defeated similar conspiracies in the past and will do the same in the future, Bilawal explained. Bilawal said the PPP used a democratic procedure to send the PTI government home.
