As a lyricist and a songwriter, Selena Gomez has  sitting down for an in-depth chat and shed lots of light on the process of writing the ‘haunting’ song about Justin Bieber, Lose You to Love Me, one of her most popular songs of all time.

This admission was made by Selena Gomez in a documentary which was recently released on Apple TV+ called Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.

As part of her opening statement, Gomez spoke about the moment that she felt she was ‘finally ready’ to tell her story. She admitted, “Being honest that night was one of the things that helped me.”. The next morning, I emailed Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter and asked them if they thought I was ready to just accept that I was sad.”

Selena Gomez biggest hits to date

For those of you who do not know what Lose You To Love Me is, it ended up being one of Gomez’s biggest hits to date, taking up the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a period of time.

As a matter of fact, she even revealed a lesser-known fact about the writing process and admitted that “We were able to write the song in as little as 45 minutes.”

During the course of the documentary, Gomez explained that the film was not just a story about a lost love, as she explained in her commentary.

The way I think about it is that I am finding my path in life, and in choosing myself, and I am also hoping that other people are finding grace and peace as well.”

The song is about the moment when you realize that you have lost every part of who you are and that you have to rediscover who you are again.”

During the course of the incident, Gomez replied, “everything was so public, and everything happened so fast.”. Whenever I thought about this incident, I felt like I haunted by a past relationship that never really ended. I then moved on to other things after that, but I didn’t regret it. There was no longer any fear in me.” I elated to be free of fear now.”

After that it was just a matter of forgetting everything that had happened. My head was spinning. I really confused about what was going on. In the end, that was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I just think that this was a necessary thing that needed to be done.”
