Joe Biden said Pakistan could be “one of the world’s most dangerous nations” because it has “nuclear weapons without any cohesion”.
His remarks came during a Democratic congressional campaign committee reception on Thursday. During the speech, Biden said, according to a transcript on the White House website
There is another country that I consider to be one of the most dangerous in the world: Pakistan. I don’t believe that nuclear weapons can be developed without any kind of cohesion.”
It was in the context of the changing geopolitical situation around the world that the US president made his remarks.

In his view, the world is changing rapidly and alliances are being rethought by countries. It is true – and I believe it wholeheartedly – that the world looks to us for leadership. I am not making a joke about this. Even our enemies are watching us to figure out what we are doing.”
As he pointed out, there was a lot at stake, and the US had the potential to lead the world to unprecedented heights.

It was revealed earlier this week that Pakistan, once a key US ally, hadn’t even been mentioned in the US National Security Strategy 2022.
Pakistan is not named as a potential ally to tackle terrorism and other geo-strategic threats in the 48-page document. It was also surprising to see that Pakistan was not included in the strategy document for 2021.
The omission in Washington reflects a desire to build a separate US-Pakistan relationship. Pakistan has long complained that the US views Pakistan only as a counter to Afghanistan’s threats.
Both US and Pakistani officials stressed the need to de-link Pakistan from both Afghanistan and India and give it the separate identity it deserves.
Ned Price, speaking for the State Department, had said that the country values its long-standing cooperation with Pakistan.
