Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif decided on Saturday that PMLN leader Ishaq Dar will become Finance Minister on Tuesday, while Miftah Ismail remains Finance Minister.

They spent over four hours at Shehbaz Sharif’s flat. Ishaq Dar attended as well. A source privy to the meeting exclusively that Ishaq Dar will take over as Finance Minister on Tuesday.

Shehbaz Sharif is set to leave for Pakistan today and it is unclear whether Ishaq Dar will follow.

As a result of his dissatisfaction with Miftah Ismail’s economic policies, Nawaz Sharif had called for a change of direction in economic policies.

In addition, Nawaz Sharif is concerned that the rise in commodity prices has adversely affected the PMLN’s support base.

Ishaq Dar would return to Pakistan next week

Earlier, Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah confirmed that Ishaq Dar would return to Pakistan next week.

Dar had told Geo News in an interview that he would take oath as senator as soon as he returned. He said he would fulfill any duties assigned to him by Nawaz and Shehbaz.

Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information, and PM Shehbaz attended the 77th UNGA in New York a day earlier before departing for Pakistan on Sunday.

They also discussed the ongoing situation in the country and measures taken by the coalition government.

PTI Chief Imran Khan’s long march call and ending PTI’s government in Punjab also discussed. According to a source privy to the meeting, Imran Khan’s long march would be dealt with legally by all means.

Next general elections held on time without any PTI pressure.

PM Shehbaz Sharif’s top leadership will meet again today (Sunday) to decide if former finance minister Ishaq will accompany him. Its decided by Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif today, according to Dar.

In London, Ishaq Dar told, “Since the earlier meeting was a family gathering, we will meet again today.”

As of Wednesday, he has reserved a flight to Pakistan. Whether he goes home with PM Shehbaz or not will decide today, he said.
