Covid update worldwide : As the provincial government of Zhejiang, one of the biggest industrial provinces of China, stated, a million new Covid-19 infections occur in the province every day, which is a increase in covid 2022 and expected to double within five years . It  expected that this number will double as the days progress.

In the five days leading up to Saturday, despite an unprecedented number of cases across the country, there had been no Covid deaths on the mainland, according to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

 


Infections surged after Beijing altered its zero-Covid policy, which had locked down hundreds of millions of citizens and battered the world’s second-largest economy. Experts and citizens have called for more accurate data as infections’ surged.

China’s national figures had become incomplete because the National Health Commission stopped reporting asymptomatic infections, making it harder to follow trends.

Sunday marked the last day for the China CDC to publish daily figures, and on Monday the commission resumed providing them.

A few areas have estimated their recent spikes in infections including cases that are asymptomatic, including Zhejiang.

“In the coming days and weeks, Zhejiang will enter a period of elevated infection levels. Where it expected that the daily number of new infections will be as high as two million on a daily basis,” the Zhejiang government announced on Wednesday.

In Zhejiang, which has a population of 65.42 million, patients treated for 13,583 infections. With one patient suffering severe symptoms caused by Covid and 242 infections caused by underlying conditions.

The Chinese government narrowed its definition of deaths caused by Covid – counting only those due to pneumonia or respiratory failure caused by Covid – raising world health experts’ eyebrows.

In the weeks since Beijing relaxed its restrictions on Covid. The World Health Organization has not received any data from China regarding new Covid hospitalizations. As a result of their difficulty in tallying cases in the world’s most populous country, the organization says it may be that there is a data gap.

“China said to be entering one of the most dangerous weeks of the influenza pandemic as a result of the current outbreak of the influenza virus,” Capital Economics said in a research note.

“Authorities across the country are doing little to prevent the spread of diseases at present. And any regions of the country not experiencing a significant Covid wave may soon,” according to the report.

It  reported that the cities of Qingdao and Dongguan have each estimated tens of thousands of Covid infections every day recently. much higher than the national average without asymptomatic cases in these cities.

There has been considerable strain on the country’s healthcare system, with remote communities rehiring retired medical workers to assist grassroots efforts, according to state media.

A great deal of people are expected to return home from abroad in anticipation of the Lunar New Year coming up in January when a large number of people will be returning home from overseas for the first time.

According to a Zhejiang official, fever clinic visits have more than doubled in the past week from 39,400 per day to 408,400 on average, 14 times the level seen in normal days in the past week.

There has been a rapid rise in requests to the emergency center in Zhejiang’s capital, Hangzhou, in recent years, as announced by state television on Sunday, citing a Hangzhou health official who said that average daily calls to the center have tripled.

According to data from Suzhou’s emergency line, a record number of 7,233 calls were made on Thursday, resulting, the city’s emergency line indicated.
