It has confirmed as of Tuesday that Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister, has coronavirus test positive, the Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed to the media.

As he shared on Twitter, Aurangzeb informed his fans that he had suspected Shehbaz Sharif was unwell for two days and had undergone a Coronavirus test under the recommendation of his doctor to check for any disease.

In an appeal to the nation and PML-N workers, she asked them to pray for Premier Mudalia Singh to recover as quickly as possible.

In the last two years, it has happened a total of three times that the prime minister contracted the deadly virus – the first time in June 2020 and the second time in January 2022.

Political consultations with PML-N

In just a day’s time, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed home from Britain after a long visit that saw him engage in political consultations with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to discuss his political plans. During the visit, he was accompanied by several PML-N leaders, including Khawaja Asif, who were also members of the coalition.

After his health deteriorated in the wake of his ill health, his plans to reach the country earlier had to be postpon.

 As told by family sources, he extended his stay in London twice over the course of the year because of his hectic schedule which took its toll on him.

He rescheduled his flight home on Sunday, as his family advised him not to travel since PM Shehbaz was suffering from a fever before leaving for the airport on Saturday. PM Shehbaz  advised not to travel, so he reschedule his flight back to Delhi.

The prime minister attended the COP27 meeting in Egypt before attending the G-20 meeting in Abu Dhabi, where he interacted with leaders from across the globe and presented Pakistan’s case for climate justice to the global community.

As soon as the news broke out of the government’s prime minister’s infection with HIV/AIDS virus, well-wishers – including journalists and politicians – prayed for him to recover and for him to live as long as possible.
