Attack on Imran khan convoy in Wazirabad kills one, injures 7

A gun attack on Imran Khan convoy as his convoy arrived at Wazirabad’s Allah Wala Chowk on Thursday injured seven people and killed a party worker.

In a statement, the Punjab police said that the deceased will be identified as Muazzam Nawaz by the family.

In the attack, a party worker who was in the city to welcome the caravan for the party’s “Azadi” march was killed. Also at the scene, a suspect was taken into custody.

Ahmed Chattha and Chaudhry Yousuf, as well as Omer Meyer and Rashid, were among the injured.

From the hospital, Senator Javed, who also had blood stains on his clothes, told Geo News: “Several of our colleagues are wounded. The news has just come in that one of them has passed away.”

The injured were transported by ambulance to the nearby Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology after the shooting, according to Reuters.

Rescue officials and PTI officials report that ten people were injured in the shooting. There was also a report that one child was among the injured.

After being shot, Imran Khan waved to supporters on television and was then carried to his bulletproof pickup truck.

TV footage showed an alleged assailant being subdued by party supporters and later photos showed him being taken away by police.

3 suspects have been named by Imran: Asad Umar, Neelima

According to PTI leader Asad Umar, party chairman Imran Khan has named three suspects involved in today’s attack.

As far as he was concerned, three people were involved in the attack, Umar said.

‘Assassination attack on Imran Khan’ condemned by PTI

From both sides of the political spectrum, widespread condemnation of the attack was expressed.

It was confirmed by PTI’s Farrukh Habib that the party’s chairman was injured.

The PTI’s official account shared a video of Javed asking for prayers for Imran shortly after the “assassination attempt”.

Asad Umar from the PTI said, “They could not stop him [Imran Khan] so they tried to martyr him.”

According to PTI’s Shahbaz Gill, PML-N’s Rana Sana allegedly threatened a fatal attack for many days by using words like “crushing the head”.

Shireen Mazari reiterated Gill’s allegations and stated, “The establishment will also be responsible for this murderous attack on Imran Khan.”

A severe condemnation of the firing incident was issued by Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister.

Rana Sanaullah was also instructed to request an immediate report on the incident from the IGP and the chief secretary of Punjab.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto expressed condolences for Imran’s “attack” and prayed for his “swift recovery”.

Reaction of PDM leaders

Marriyum Aurangzeb, a PML-N member, announced that Sharif has postponed his press conference regarding his recent visit to China.

Ahsan Iqbal, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), said, “Thank to God, Imran Khan is safe.” According to him, “violence does not belong to politics.”.

A member of the PPP’s National Assembly, Shazia Atta Marri, condemned the incident as well.

The PML-N MPA Hina Pervez Butt also demanded that the “suspect be arrested and an investigation conducted immediately”.
