As the students prepared for exams on Friday morning, 19 people killed in a suicide attack at a learning center in Kabul.

As a result of the blast, many of Afghanistan’s most deadly attacks occurred in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood of western Kabul, home to the minority Hazara community.

19 Martyred and 27 wounded in a suicide Attack

According to police spokesman Khalid Zadran, 19 people martyred and 27 wounded in a suicide attack at an educational center where students were preparing for exams.

The massacre has been documented in videos posted on the internet and in photographs published by local media. Showing bloodied victims carried away from the scene.

The Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafy Takor had earlier tweeted that security teams had reached the scene. He would reveal the nature of the attack and the details of the casualties later.

“This allows the enemy to take advantage of civilian targets easily. Which demonstrates their inhuman cruelty and lack of moral standards.”

Last year, the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, which ended a two-decade war and resulted in a significant drop in violence, but security has deteriorated rapidly since then.

300 Girls last year killed at School

At least 85 people – mostly girls students – killed and more than 300 wounded last year when three bombs exploded near Dasht-e-Barchi school.

There was no claim of responsibility. But Daesh claimed responsibility for a suicide attack a year earlier in the same area which killed 24, among them students.

It blamed in May 2020 for a bloody attack on a maternity ward of a hospital in the neighbourhood that caused the deaths of 25 people, including new mothers.

At least 20 people wounded in two separate bombings at separate education centers in the area in April. Which resulted in the deaths of six people.
